Zoran Matic

Age 48, of Grand Blanc, formerly a longtime resident of Warren, passed away October 20, 2021. He was born in Trenton, Michigan on May 27, 1973; son of Miodrag and Gordana (Stevanovic) Matic.  Zoran graduated from Warren Woods Tower High School in Warren; Class of 1992.

Zoran worked as a truck driver for over 20 years.  He was currently employed with Emterra Environmental USA in Flint; it was a job he truly enjoyed and was well liked by his co-workers.  Zoran attended St. Lazarus Serbian Orthodox Cathedral in Detroit.

Zoran was an avid hunter and fisherman.  He enjoyed spending time outdoors riding four wheelers and being up north at his family’s cottage. He liked to work on cars, fixing and maintaining them both inside and out.  “Z“, as he was affectionately known by many, was very social and made friends wherever he went.  He always had a great time with extended family and being a part of all the gatherings and celebrations.  Zoran was kind and had a good heart.  He was greatly loved by many and will be deeply missed by those that knew him.

Zoran is survived by his loving mother, Gordana Matic; his brother, Dragan Matic; his uncle, Velimir (Leposava) Stevanovic; his aunt, Milijana Stevanovic; and his cousins, Mihailo Stevanovic, Snezana Stevanovic, Svetlana Matic, and Snezana (Miki) Matic.  He was kumovi to the Savic family and beloved Čika Zoki to Cedomir Stevanovic.  He was preceded in death by his father Miodrag Matic, his uncles Milan Matic and Radmilo Stevanovic, and his aunt Zorica Matic.

The funeral service will be held Monday, October 25, 2021 at 11:00 a.m., in state beginning at 10:00 a.m., at St. Lazarus Serbian Orthodox Cathedral, 4575 East Outer Drive, Detroit.  Zoran will be laid to rest at Woodlawn Cemetery in Detroit at 2:00 p.m. Please make sure to be lined up in the church parking lot prior to 1:30 p.m. for the procession to the cemetery.
