Wilma Sue Gatteri

Wilma Sue Gatteri, age 90, longtime resident of Livonia, passed away January 29, 2020. She was born on January 10, 1930 in Detroit, Michigan; daughter of Bill and Thelma (nee Rook) Halmark.  Sue was united in marriage to John Gatteri on April 16, 1949; they spent 49 loving years together until his death on June 8, 1998.

Sue was a devoted homemaker; she took wonderful care of her family.  She began working at Sears as a sewing instructor and later moved to sales, retiring after 29 years with the company. She volunteered at the Botsford Hospital gift shop.   Sue was a member of Saint Priscilla Catholic Church for many years; active with the church, she served on the parish council.

Sue was a novice yogi and was very proud of her yoga.  She enjoyed going to the casino and gambling.  She adored the pets she had throughout the years and always had a dog or cat at home.  Her greatest joy was her family; she loved spending time with them, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Sue is survived by her beloved children, John (Peggy) Gatteri, Dennis Gatteri, and Susan (Domenick) Lombardi; her sister Carol Metrick; her grandchildren, Nicole Gatteri, Jerry (Shannon) Gatteri, Michael Gatteri, and Stefanie (Paul Hegedus) Ward; and her great grandchildren, Mallory, Megan (Tony), Maddie, Katlyn, Andrew, and John.  She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, 3 brothers, and 2 sisters.

The visitation will be held Sunday, February 2, 2020 from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at Casterline Funeral Home, 122 W. Dunlap, Northville.  The funeral mass will be held Monday, February 3, 2020 at 10:00 a.m., in state 9:30 a.m. at Saint Priscilla Catholic Church, 19120 Purlingbrook St., Livonia.  Mrs. Gatteri will be laid to rest next to her husband at Oakland Hills Memorial Gardens in Novi.
