Warner W. Krause

Age 93, of South Lyon, passed away peacefully on July 2, 2022. He was born on October 21, 1928 in Detroit, Michigan; son of Walter J. and Ida (Schukowsky) Krause. Warner was united in marriage to Jo Ann Glick on September 20, 1952, spending over 48 loving years together until her death in 2000. He was lucky to find love again when he married Arlene Balko on February 10, 2007.

Warner graduated from Cooley High School in Detroit, class of 1946. He moved to Northville in 1961 where he lived for many years until moving to South Lyon in 2008. Warner proudly served in the United States Naval Reserve during the Korean War where he protected the Great Lakes. He began a career as an Anderson Window sales rep., which led to a working as a Building Consultant with Fingerle Lumber in Ann Arbor.

Warner was a member of the Ann Arbor Builders Association for many years. A car enthusiast, he spent time washing, waxing, and tinkering on the various cars he owned throughout his life. He loved ice cream; he used any excuse he could think of to go to Guernsey Farms Dairy for delicious ice cream treats. Warner adored his family and kept busy with his grandchildren’s sports; watching swim meets and cross country meets. Warner had a very outgoing personality with a great sense of humor and a contagious smile.

Warner is survived by his wife Arlene; his daughter Mary (John) Cast; and his grandchildren, Christy (Mark) Elkins and Tom Cast. He is also loved and survived by the Balko family. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Jo Ann.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, July 11, 2022 at 11am, with visitation beginning at 10am at Cross of Christ Lutheran Church, 24155 Griswold Road, South Lyon, MI 48178.
