Stephan Koncz

Stephan M. Koncz, age 62, of Northville, passed away unexpectedly on May 5, 2023. He was born June 12, 1960 in Wyandotte, Michigan; son of Steve J. and Jennie E. (Gibson) Koncz. Steve grew up in Lincoln Park and graduated from Lincoln Park High School, class of 1978. Soon after graduating, he began a lifelong career as an auto mechanic. Steve has worked at the Best Dam Garage in Plymouth for Dennis Puczkowski for the last 10 years. He was a dedicated employee and an extremely hard worker.

Steve was an active member of the Western Wayne County Conservation Association in Plymouth; he served as the Archery Chairman. He would be found at the club on most days and nights when he wasn’t working, shooting at targets or just being his sarcastic, smart-ass self. Steve was an avid outdoorsman; he enjoyed bass and salmon fishing. He also liked stock car racing and preferred to work on the cars instead of driving them.

Steve would do anything for anyone. He adored his grandchildren; they truly melted his heart. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

Steve is survived by his loving companion of 29 years, Lora Kotas; his son, Corey (Kelly) Koncz; his daughter, Lauren Koncz; his grandchildren, Kolton and Kaysley; and his siblings, Doug (Janet) Koncz, Joyce (Joe) Vargo, Suzie Goward, and Nora (Greg) Stanbury. He was also survived by Lora’s son and daughter-in-law Kevin (Afton) Kotas. Steve was preceded in death by his parents.

A celebration of Steve’s life will be held on Saturday, June 3, 2023 at 6pm at the Western Wayne County Conservation Association, 6700 Napier Road, Plymouth. Memorial contributions would be appreciated to Steve’s grandchildren and can be sent to Alexander Koncz, 6223 Mentel Road, Monroe, MI 48162.
