Scott J. Corcoran

Scott J. Corcoran, age 59 of Northville, passed away on August 13, 2021 after a courageous battle against esophageal cancer. He was born on January 31, 1962 in South Laguna, California; son of William Herbert Corcoran and Susan Jo Erwin. Scott was united in marriage to Lynn C. Ryan on June 11, 2005; celebrating over 16 years of unconditional love.

Scott graduated from Bently High School in Livonia, class of 1980. He has worked at FedEx as a courier for over 25 years. He was a dedicated and detail-oriented employee who cared for and about his customers. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Northville where he volunteered as often as he could.

Scott, known as Corky by those who knew and loved him, loved listening to classic music.  His favorite artists included the Eagles, Steely Dan, and Bob Seager. Scott also loved classic cars; most of his reading was classic car magazines from cover to cover. He enjoyed driving and truly appreciated the sport of NASCAR. Cruising to the Caribbean was often a welcomed birthday trip in January. Most Sundays were spent  going to the movies with his boys. He was devoted to his community and helping others; donating often to Civic Concern. Scott was a man with integrity and was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and friend.

Scott is survived by his loving wife Lynn Ryan; his sons, David Corcoran and Justin Corcoran; his step-children, Tracy (David) Tamo and Matthew (Daniel Willoughby) Shough; his grandchildren, William and Olivia; and his father William Corcoran. He was preceded in death by his mother Susan.

Memorial visitation will be held Monday, August 23, 2021 from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m.  with a service beginning at 2:00 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church, 777 West 8 Mile Road, Northville. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to The Scott Corcoran Memorial Fund for Respite Care.  Please make checks payable to First United Methodist Church and put Scott Corcoran in the memo line of the check.
