Sandra K. Hardesty

Sandra K. Hardesty, age 70, longtime resident of Livonia, passed away July 13, 2019. She was born on November 2, 1948 in Bad Axe, Michigan; daughter of Willard and Esther (nee Gallarno) Tinsey.  She graduated from Bad Axe High School; Class of 1964.  Sandra was united in marriage to Douglas E. Hardesty on December 26, 1975; they spent 33 years lovingly devoted to one another other until his death on March 21, 2009.

Sandra worked as a secretary for various companies throughout her life, most recently was Fed Ex before retiring in 2010.  She had a very strong love for God and her faith; she was an active member of Ward Church.  She volunteered for the “stuffers”, as well as a greeter on Sunday mornings.  Sandra was a terrific baker and made delicious cookies.  At Christmas time she baked no less than ten different kinds of cookies, around 60 dozen, that she gifted to friends and family.  She enjoyed bowling and in her younger years was on many different leagues.  Sandra’s caring and nurturing way was evident in everything she did.  She volunteered with Meals on Wheels in her apartment building and was always there to assist her neighbors with daily tasks.  Sandra was a devoted mother and wife; she took wonderful care of her family.  She cherished the time they spent together and especially enjoyed spoiling her granddaughter.

Sandra is survived by her loving son, Justin (Jennifer) Hardesty; her daughter-in-law, Christen Hardesty; her siblings, Lynn (Sharon) Tinsey, Carol Gould, and Maxine Wolfe; and her granddaughter, Tavia.  She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her son Scott Hardesty.

The visitation will be held Thursday, July 18, 2019 from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Casterline Funeral Home, 122 W. Dunlap, Northville.  The Funeral Service will be held Friday, July 19, 2019 at Ward Church, 40000 Six Mile Road, Northville.  Pastor Doug Thompson will officiate the service.  Sandra will be laid to rest next to her husband at Washtenong Memorial Park in Ann Arbor.
