Roy A. Richmond

Age 67, of Webberville, passed away December 14, 2021. He was born on September 18, 1954 in Ypsilanti, Michigan; son of Raymond W. and Gertrude M. (nee Griswold) Richmond. Roy was united in marriage to Dawn M. Saputo on August 25, 2007; dedicating over 14 years to each other.

Roy began working in the late 1970’s as a gravel train driver for several companies throughout the years; he retired in 2007. He was a great storyteller who loved making people smile. Roy had a very generous and kind heart. He was known as a father figure to many of the neighborhood kids who all called him “Pops”. Roy never thought of a child as too difficult, or a loss cause and many kids turn to him for food and a warm place to stay and eventually became a part of the family.

Roy collected Christmas decorations and eagerly decorated his house inside and out. He took great pride in the fact that he was one of Santa’s helpers and enjoyed listening to what the children in the family wanted from Santa. Roy was an avid hunter and fisherman; while driving at work his CB handle was “Catfish”. One of his many passions was smoking meat. He made some of the most delicious smoked ribs which would go fast at the family parties. Roy was a family oriented, loving, and caring husband, Dad, Papa, brother, and friend.

Roy is survived by his wife Dawn Richmond; his children, Faith (Joseph LaFountain) Sauls, Jennifer (Mychal) Dixon, and Chuck (Denise) Dusek; his grandchildren, Savannah “Shortcake” Sauls, Gabriel “Little Tree” Dixon, and Zander “RJ” Dixon; and his sisters, Shirley (Bob) McLaughlin and Patricia (Eldon) Raymor. He is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers Raymond (Diane) Richmond, and Ralph Richmond; and his sisters Marcia Pratt and Alice (Joe) Raymor.
