Ronald W. Zorney

Ronald W. Zorney, age 90, of Northville, formerly of Plymouth, passed away August 24, 2023. He was born on October 8, 1932 in Detroit, Michigan; son of Peter and Mary (Elko) Zorney. He graduated high school in Dearborn and continued his education at Wayne State University in Detroit where he earned a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering. Ronald proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War.

Ronald worked at Betchel Corporation for many years before starting his own engineering firm called PE Service Company.

He was a member of Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church in Northville.

Ronald was an avid ballroom dancer and enjoyed dancing with his favorite partner and companion Bobbie.  He played golf for many years at various local courses and in numerous leagues.  Ronald enjoyed listening to music and was a talented pianist.  He also enjoyed traveling. Ronald liked to cook and made delicious tomato quiche, meatloaf, and homemade pizza.  He also made his own raspberry jam.  Ronald loved the view of the lake behind his home.  He spent winters ice skating on the lake and kept a running tally of the animals he could see out of his back window.  His greatest joy came from his furry companions, his cats Tom and Oliver.

Ronald is survived by his sons, Nick Zorney and Peter (Linda) Zorney; his grandchildren, Anthony Zorney, Nathan (Hannah) Zorney, and Marissa Zorney; and his nephew, John Berger.  He was preceded in death by his daughter, Mary Zorney; his parents; and his sister Nadia Berger.

The visitation will be held Monday, August 28, 2023 from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. with a funeral service at 1:00 p.m. at Casterline Funeral Home, 122 West Dunlap, Northville.  He will be laid to rest at St. Hedwig Cemetery in Dearborn Heights.
