Robert "Junior" E. Baber

Robert E. Baber “Junior”, age 72, a longtime resident of Northville, passed away suddenly on April 29, 2022. He was born on December 17, 1949 in Pontiac, Michigan; son of Robert E. and Betty J. (Willett) Baber. Junior graduated from Northville High School, class of 1968. He was drafted into the United States army in 1969 during the Vietnam War and proudly served his country. Junior was a life member of the VFW Post 4012.

Junior was a tradesman, he worked in the roofing industry with his father’s family business for 30 years. He was a highly skilled roofer. Later in life he worked at Edwards in Northville as a caterer and cook. In his younger years Junior was a star wrestler while at NHS. He enjoyed shooting pool, throwing darts, and playing horseshoes. Junior was a distinguished member of the Northville Eagles Club; it became his home away from home. He was a well-known friend around town and knew how to work a room. Junior was a joyful and happy people person.

Junior is survived by his sons, Gregory Baber, Ryan Baber, Jeremy Baber, and Wes Baber; his sisters, Cathy (David) Luedtke, Karen (Mike) Ratliff, and Debbie (Rick) Tarrow; and his granddaughter Brandy Ramirez. He is also survived by many cherished friends, nieces, and nephews. Junior was preceded in death by his parents.

A graveside service will be held Monday, May 9 at 2pm at Rural Hill Cemetery, 100 Rural Hill Street, Northville. A celebration of life will be held immediately following at the VFW Post 4012, 438 South Main Street, Northville.
