Age 92, a longtime resident of Northville, passed away December 18, 2021. He was born on May 11, 1929 in Milford, Michigan; son of Byrle and Effie (neé Fullmer) Hines. Robert graduated from Northville High School, class of 1947. He was united in marriage to Audrey A. Graham on December 2, 1950; they were married for over 70 years before her death on July 5, 2021. He was drafted into the United States Army and completed his basic training in Colorado before being stationed in Alaska. In 1952 he was transferred into the Army Reserve and was honorably discharged in 1956.
For 30 years he worked alongside his brother as a bricklayer. In 1980 he retired from the Masonry industry and began working for the Northville Public Schools as a Custodian Leader. Robert worked for the schools for over 10 years before his final retirement. He was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Northville. Robert was an integral part of building the church addition and always willing to help when he was able. Robert was an incredibly hard worker. He loved to keep busy and enjoyed working on projects around the home. A true green thumb, he was proud to keep his property maintained and his vegetable garden flourishing. He enjoyed listening to country music and was captivated with airplanes. Robert was entertained at air shows, often going to the events with his brother. Removing snow on his neighbor’s driveways was one of the ways Robert showed his generosity and selflessness. He was a loving and kind husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend.
