Rita R. St. Clair

Rita R. St. Clair, age 94, longtime resident of Northville, passed away August 20, 2018. She was born on December 30, 1923 in Detroit, Michigan; daughter of Joseph and Rose (Noess) Kaufmann.  Rita was united in marriage to Frank S. St. Clair on April 7, 1951; they spent 36 loving years together until his death 1986.

Rita attended nursing school at Mt. Carmel in Detroit.  She worked as a Registered Nurse until she was married and once her children were grown, she went back to work part time in the ER.  She volunteered at Angela Hospice and Henry Ford Hospital taking patients blood pressure for many years.

Rita was a talented china painter; the beautiful pieces she made included intricate designs of flowers and roses and were often shared with family and friends.  She enjoyed traveling; she visited Europe and Greece and went on cruises, but her favorite trips were those to visit family who lived out of state.   Rita’s true joy in life were her grandchildren, she was an excellent grandmother who took an active part in all her grandchildren’s lives.  She loved spending time with them, whether it was baking, taking them swimming, driving them to their activities, babysitting, going camping, Rita treasured every moment.

Rita is survived by her loving daughters, Christine (James) Ekberg and Camille (Malcolm) Dedes; her grandchildren, Nicole (Andrew), Ian (Cyria), Marissa, Cameron, Gabriel, and Matthew; her great grandchildren, Anna, Claire, Lana, and 1 on the way.  She was preceded in death by her husband, her son Frank St. Clair, Jr., her grandson Frank St. Clair, III, her parents, 2 sisters and 3 brothers including her twin Richard.

A memorial service will be held Friday, October 12, 2018 at 10:30am at the Henry Ford Village Chapel, 15101 Ford Road, Dearborn, Michigan 48126.  She will be laid to rest at Rural Hill Cemetery with her husband.
