Richard K. Sievert

July 28, 1944 — March 17, 2020

Richard K. Sievert, age 75, longtime resident of Northville, passed away March 17, 2020. He was born July 28, 1944 in Detroit, Michigan; son of Karl and Margaret (nee Culp) Sievert.  Richard graduated from Edsel Ford High School in Dearborn; Class of 1962.  He continued his education at University of Michigan where he earned a Bachelor of Business Administration.  Richard proudly served his country in both in the Michigan Army National Guard and as a Lieutenant with the Naval Reserve where he worked in Naval Intelligence.  He was united in marriage to Margaret E. Little on August 16, 1969; they spent 50 loving years together as husband and wife.

Richard was the owner of Excel Pattern Works in Dearborn.  He took over the business during his senior year of college and sold the company in 2009 when he retired.  He was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Northville for many years.  Richard was also a member of Midwest R/C Society; Erieau Yacht Club, where he served as Past Commodore; Past President of Delta Upsilon; and Ducks Unlimited.

Richard was an avid hunter.  He hunted for duck, dove, and pheasant with many great friends throughout the years and always with his favorite dogs Molly and Lily.  He liked to fly model airplanes and built beautiful models.  Richard enjoyed watching movies, especially war movies.  He also enjoyed reading about WWII.  A football fan, he cheered for the Detroit Lions and University of Michigan.  One of his favorite things to do was spend time at his cottage in Canada and attended events at the yacht club with friends and family.

Richard is survived by his beloved wife, Margaret “Margie” Sievert; his son, Scott (Alanna) Sievert; and his sister Marilyn Sievert.  He was preceded in death by his daughter Mindy Sievert and his parents.

A private service will be held.  He will be laid to rest at Rural Hill Cemetery in Northville.
