Richard J. Kilyanek
Age 64 of Novi, passed away peacefully on April 7, 2019. He was born on February 2, 1955 in Detroit, Michigan; son of Edward and Margaret (nee Redstone) Kilyanek. Rich graduated from Taylor Center High School, class of 1973. After graduation he joined the United States Navy, serving from 1973 until 1978 when he was honorably discharged. He was an Aircraft Intercept Controller for the Navy and was stationed on the USS Enterprise then the USS Constellation. On March 1, 1974 he was awarded the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal and the Meritorious Unit Commendation.
Rich was united in marriage to his best friend Jeanette Schremser on August 3, 2002; married for over 16 years but together since 1984. He worked as a Finish Carpenter for 25 years; he retired from Hansons Windows. Rich had a wonderful sense of humor and enjoyed spending time with his friends at the bar. He was born on groundhogs day and gave himself the nickname "Grounded Hog" after he gave up riding his motorcycle. Rich collected Budweiser memorabilia and was very proud of his collection. He also loved gardening, both vegetables and flowers. Rich was a loving husband, brother, uncle and friend.
He is survived by his wife Jeanette and his brothers, Jim (Bridget) Kilyanek and Stan (Diane) Kilyanek. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and their families. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Ed Kilyanek.
