Rhea Jayne Harris

Jayne Harris, age 78, a longtime resident of Northville, passed away on January 23, 2020. She was born on June 29, 1941 in Detroit, Michigan; daughter of John and Reba (nee Brooks) Brown. Jayne was united in marriage to Donovan Harris on September 2, 1966; lovingly married for 49 years until his death in 2016.

Jayne graduated from Livonia Bentley High School, class of 1959. She continued her education at Michigan Technological University where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology degree. Jayne was a Lab Manager with the University of Michigan; working at U of M for over 40 years. She retired in 2005.

Jayne enjoyed travelling all over the United States and spent many vacations in the Midwest. She enjoyed the challenge of a crossword puzzle and the creativity of a jigsaw puzzle. Jayne was an avid reader and a very intellectual woman. She adored dogs and always supported dog rescues. She was a caring, loving and generous mother, grandmother, sister and friend.

She is survived by her son John (Dianna Banka) Harris; her sister Claudia (Fred) Locke; her grandsons, Bret (Amber Goodeman) Miller and Will Harris; and her great granddaughter Ellie. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.

An intimate family service was held. Jayne was laid to rest at Riverside Cemetery in Plymouth. Memorial contributions would be appreciated to Waggin’ Tails Dog Rescue , PO Box 438, Northville, MI 48167.
