Ramona P. Saurer

August 2, 1929 — December 7, 2022

Ramona P. Saurer

Age 93, longtime resident of Northville, passed away on December 7, 2022. She was born on August 2, 1929 in Stacyville, Iowa; daughter of H. Hubert and Laura (Kramer) Puettmann. She graduated as class president and valedictorian from Visitation High School in Stacyville, Iowa; Class of 1947.  She continued her education at St Joseph Mercy Nurses College Sioux City Iowa  where she earned the degree of Registered Nurse.  Ramona was united in marriage to Curt Saurer on October 11, 1952; they were lovingly devoted to one another for 47 years until his death on December 17, 1999.

Ramona worked as a Registered Nurse in the Operating Room and on the Medical Surgical Floor at St. Mary Hospital in Livonia.  She retired in the early 1990’s from Central Supply which supports the surgical floor.

Ramona was an active member of Our Lady of Victory for over 63 years.  Over the years she served on many committees,  participated actively in the Women’s Bible Study, helped to clean the church each week, sang in the Resurrection Choir, chaired the committee that made baptismal bib’s, embroidered over 800 herself, among other things.  Ramona was also a life member of Northville Women’s Club and played in a neighborhood bridge club.  She enjoyed sewing and embroidering; making everything from clothing for her family to doll clothes for her grandchildren’s dolls.  Ramona was an avid reader and especially liked mysteries.  She was incredibly kind, caring, and selfless, always making sure everyone else was taken care of before herself.  She was often busy helping neighbors with various tasks, including repairing jewelry and rosaries for those in her neighborhood and church community.  Ramona enjoyed spending time with friends for coffee and counsel.  As the spiritual leader of the family, she prayed for those she loved regardless of their flaws or shortcomings.  Generous and a philanthropist to a fault, she donated to many charities both locally and globally.  Ramona was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother,“GiGi”, sister and friend and will be missed by all who loved her.

She is survived by her children, Curt (Anita) Saurer, Claire (Dave) Duey, and Kaye (Glenn) Hermanson; her siblings, Bernice “Penny” Valley and Wilbur (Mary) Puettmann; her grandchildren, Eric (Silviu Pufu) Saurer, Mark (Kelly Ann McCarty) Saurer, Beth Duey, Evan (Mallory) Duey, Dana Hermanson, and Paige Hermanson; her great grandchildren, Quinn, Reagan, and Liam.  She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her brother Al Puettmann, and her sister Eileen Lincke.
