Paul J. Kinville

May 10, 1957 — April 7, 2025

Paul John Kinville, age 67, of Northville, died peacefully in his home surrounded by loved ones on April 7, 2025. He was born on May 10, 1957; son of John and Elaine (Noonan) Kinville. Paul graduated from Cody High School, class of 1975. He was united in marriage to Karen E. McGuire on August 23, 1980, and together they shared over 44 years of love and deep devotion to each other and their family.

Paul served as a Supervisor with the Wayne County Road Commission for 29.8 years. After retiring in 2006, he embraced life fully and enjoyed every moment. Paul was a dedicated member of Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church since 1980. A faithful and faith-filled man, he often lifted others up in prayer and kept those in need close to his heart.

Paul generously gave his time as a volunteer firefighter and EMT for the City of Northville. He had a passion for golfing and kept a garage full of clubs, always ready to choose the perfect one for the day. A talented woodcarver, Paul crafted many beautiful pieces by hand. He cherished time spent camping with his family and loved hitting the road in the motorhome with Karen by his side—he drove while she navigated with a trusty paper map. Together, they enjoyed dancing and playing gin rummy and other card games.

A true collector at heart, Paul often said, “If I don’t got it, you don’t need it.” He was deeply devoted to his family and rarely missed a moment of his sons’ football careers—from the Colts to Catholic Central, and later Adrian College and Central Michigan University. When asked recently whether he preferred watching football or wrestling, he smiled and picked wrestling.

Known lovingly as “Papa” by his grandchildren, Paul adored holding the babies and playing cribbage with the older ones. He delighted in giving each grandchild unique gifts from his treasured collections. A gentle giant in every sense, Paul was kind, patient, and loving. He never raised his voice and will be remembered for his unwavering devotion to his family, friends, and faith.

Paul is survived by his wife Karen; his children, Kathryn (Liam) O’Donohue, John (Amanda) Kinville, Joseph (Jess) Kinville, and Michael (Kaci) Kinville; his brother Jim Kinville; and his grandchildren, Tadhg, Eoin, Saoirse, Eamon, Ciaran, Kanaan, Maevis, Rammi, Quinley, Raegan, Sutton, Tatum, Charlotte, Harper, Delilah, with 3 more on the way. He is also loved and survived by the McGuire family and many dear friends. Paul was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Thomas Kinville.
