Patricia S. Pavelek
Age 85, a longtime resident of Warren, passed away on July 16, 2022. She was born on May 17, 1937 in Detroit, Michigan; daughter of William and Margaret (Kotulis) Schymick. Patricia graduated from Pershing High School in Detroit, class of 1955. She continued her education at Wayne State University where she earned a Bachelor of Education in 1959. At WSU Patti was a proud member of Sigma Kappa Sorority, a sisterhood that was an important part of her life. Patricia was united in marriage to Melvin Julius Pavelek on June 21, 1960; they spent over 29 loving years together until his death on October 9, 1989.
Patti was a Kindergarten Teacher with the Archdiocese of Detroit for her entire career. She taught at Our Lady Queen of Apostles in Hamtramck and St. Michael’s of Southfield. Her world revolved around God and church. Patti was an active member of St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church in Warren where she served as a Catechism teacher, a Stephen Minister, sang in the choir, played with the bell choir, attended bible study and was a member of the Active Christian Women’s Club.
Patti loved going to the Detroit Symphony Orchestra and was able to enjoy going often being a season ticket holder. She enjoyed dressing for the occasion, maintaining her beauty through getting her hair styled and nails manicured. She was a talented pianist with a beautiful voice. Her creativity shined through painting, sewing, knitting, crafting, and decoupage. Patti’s seamstress abilities were exceptional; she made exquisite clothes for her daughters and herself.
In 1969 Patti and Mel purchased property on Harsen's Island, and, in 1970 she and her her husband began building a cottage. Each year, they enjoyed summers as a family at the cottage boating, fishing and swimming. Her family were members of the Kandahar Ski Club in Fenton and in the winter, kept busy with snow skiing. She kept a meticulous yard and cared for a stunning floral garden. Patti liked to read cookbooks because of her interest in food and cooking. Recently Patti took interest in jigsaw puzzles and crossword puzzles. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.
Patricia is survived by her loving daughters, Lisa (Thomas) Wroblewski, Deanne (Harold) Remlinger, and Suzanne (Charles) Neal; her brother William (Kathy) Schymick; her grandchildren, Skyler Wroblewski, Hannah Remlinger, Garrett Glowacki, Clayton Neal, and Collin Neal; her niece Jennifer (Matthew) Murphy and thier children Makela and Luke. She dearly loved her sister-in-law and brother-in-law Arlene and Ronald Cyzman and their 3 sons Jeffrey (Denise), Robert (Gail), Ronald (Kara) and their families. Patti was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her sister-in-law Arlene Cyzman, and her brother-in-law Ronald Cyzman.
The Visitation will be held Friday, July 22, 2022 from 2:00 pm until 8:00 pm with a brief Rosary Service beginning at 4:00 pm at Casterline Funeral Home, 122 West Dunlap, Northville. The Funeral Mass will be held Saturday, July 23, 2022 at 11:00 am, in state beginning at 10:00 am, at St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church, 31555 Hoover Road, Warren.
