Patricia M. Blackburn, age 99, of Northville, formerly of Taylor, passed away on December 13, 2023. She was born on October 16, 1924 in Detroit, Michigan; daughter of John and Madeline (Wandrie) Curran. She was united in marriage to Robert Blackburn on June 9, 1950; spending over 55 years devoted to their love until his death in 2005.
She graduated from Western International High School in Detroit, class of 1942. Patricia, a spirited young woman, embarked on a thrilling journey right after high school when she and a friend relocated to Los Angeles, setting the stage for many years of adventure. Patricia began a career as an accountant with Vernor’s Ginger Ale in Detroit. After 40 years of dedicated work at various companies, she retired from R.L. Polk in Taylor. Following retirement, she moved with her husband to Pinellas Park, Florida where they enjoyed life for over 10 years.
Her passion for travel blossomed, leading her to explore the majority of the United States and meticulously document her experiences in beautifully crafted scrapbooks. Patricia's enthusiasm extended to classic movies, a love that originated during family outings to the Fox Theater and Fisher Theater. An early appreciation for movies stayed with her throughout her life. Beyond her cultural interests, Patricia was an avid reader with a penchant for diverse genres, she immersed herself in the world of literature. Patricia's compassion extended to her love for animals, both domestic pets and the wonders of the wild. Above all, Patricia's unwavering commitment to her family, faith, and devotion to God provided a guiding light in her life. Her loving and kind personality, coupled with a deep appreciation for her family and a love of exploration, created a rich tapestry of experiences that defined her remarkable journey.
Patricia is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Janet and Jim Thompson; her nephew Thomas (Nancy) Curran; her nieces, Judy (Christ) Petrouleas, Nancy Bigham, and Debi (Bob) Comstock; and many loving great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her brother Hugh K. (Virginia) Curran.
A private funeral mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church. Rev. Father Denis Theroux will officiate the service. Patricia will be laid to rest at Cadillac Memorial Gardens West following mass.
