Nancy F. Birdsall

Age 86, of Northville, formerly a longtime resident of Livonia, passed away November 3, 2020.  She was born on October 29, 1934 in Detroit, Michigan; daughter of James and Helen (nee Gorman) Slater.  She graduated from Cooley High School; Class of 1952.  Following high school, she attended Schoolcraft College where she studied business.  Nancy was united in marriage to Richard Birdsall on November 7, 1953, they spent 58 loving years devoted to one another until his death on June 14, 2012.

Nancy worked as the secretary for the Superintendent of the Livonia Public Schools for many years.  She was a member of the Eastern Star.  Nancy enjoyed playing bingo; she also enjoyed trips to the casino to play the slot machines.  Her favorite vacation spots were Florida and Las Vegas. Nancy was very gregarious and liked to be out and about.  She was passionate about shopping, which often focused on interior design and changing up the look in her home.  Her greatest joy in life was spending time with family, especially her grandchildren.  Nancy loved spending the day with her granddaughter shopping, eating out, and going to the movies. She loved attending her grandsons sporting events and cheered for the entire team. She made every birthday special by spoiling them with dinner at their favorite restaurant.  Nancy was very generous with both time and love.

Nancy is survived by her loving son, Rick (Diana) Birdsall; her grandchildren, Richard “Ricky” Birdsall III, Bradley (Madeline) Birdsall, and Brittany (Nicholas) Norton; and her great grandson Zachary.  She was preceded in death by her husband, her daughter Susan Birdsall, her parents, and her sisters Betty Stepka and Shirley Kocsis.

A private service will be held.  She will be laid to rest next to her husband in Acacia Park in Beverly Hills, Michigan.
