Michelle M. Bishop, age 66, of Northville, passed away at home surrounded by loved ones on January 12, 2025. She was born on June 18, 1958 in Dearborn Heights, Michigan; daughter of Robert and Mary (Falzon) LaCroix. She graduated from Riverside High School in 1976, where she was an accomplished competitive gymnast and cheerleader. She went on to further her education at Schoolcraft College, earning an associate degree in business. Michelle was united in marriage to Douglas Bishop on May 8, 1982; they spent 42 years devoted to each other.
Michelle enjoyed a successful 40-year career as a hairstylist, working in Farmington, Livonia, and Northville. After retiring from hairstyling, she transitioned into a role as an account representative for Ferrero.
Michelle dedicated countless hours to volunteering at school and church. Through her work with Humble Design in Pontiac, she took pride in helping furnish homes for those in need. A true friend to many, Michelle’s friendships were lifelong. She was affectionately known as the “cruise director” among her friends, always keeping connections active and bringing people together.
Michelle had a zest for life and a wide array of interests. She enjoyed golfing, walking, reading, and crafting, with making chunky blankets being a favorite pastime. Known for her amazing sense of humor and infectious laugh, Michelle was the life of the party. A passionate Detroit sports fan, she also loved listening to music, attending concerts, and dancing, often inspiring others to join her on the dance floor. Traveling with family and friends brought her great joy, and she especially cherished trips to Hilton Head and Northern Michigan.
Above all, Michelle’s greatest passion was her family. Her in-laws often joked that they liked her “better” than Doug, and as a devoted Mimi, she was always ready to babysit or join her grandchildren at the park, often sliding down with them in tow. Michelle’s legacy is one of love, friendship, and joy. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Michelle is survived by husband, Doug; her children, Andrew (Lauren) Bishop and Lauren (Ian) Burns; her grandsons, Mac, Declan, Easton, and Dawson; and her siblings, John LaCroix, Joan Webber, and Michael (Kathy) LaCroix. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Renee Kolasa, her brother Rob LaCroix, and her grandsons, Hudson and D.J.
