Michele M. Compo, age 55, of Northville, passed away suddenly on January 2, 2021. She was born on August 7, 1965 in Detroit, MI; daughter of Frank and Carol (nee Dillaway) Pilat. Michele grew up in Inkster and graduated from Cherry Hill High School, class of 1983. She continued her education at Central Michigan University for a year then transferred to Michigan State University where she earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting in 1987. Michele was united in marriage to David S. Compo on June 6, 1998; dedicated to each other for over 22 years.
Michele was the Secretary and Treasurer for Compo Builders, Inc. and worked as the company accountant. Her career was important, but family was the most important part of Michele’s life. She was incredibly devoted and giving of unconditional pure love. Michele was loyal, kind, and strong. She adored her son and loved being his mom. She had a strong faith in God and was a devoted member of Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church.
Michele had a tradition every Thursday evening to enjoy spending time with her lifelong friend Mary running errands, watching tv, or just having dinner. She was an incredible cook and baker. Michele cooked healthy dishes and each year prepared the dough for hundreds of pierogis that she made with the help of her family. She was an avid reader, especially mysteries. Michele created beautiful cross-stitch pieces when she was younger. She enjoyed hiking with her husband and son. She loved to travel and spend time in Mexico and Hawaii. Michele’s happy place was the family cottage in Ontario, Canada where she would relax, go to the beach, and play games.
Michele is survived by her siblings, Margaret (Jerry) Szpak, Paul Pilat, and Cheryl (Jim) Andrews; her nieces and nephews, Jennifer (Cameron) Helsel, Brian (Joy Merten) Szpak, Amanda (Thomas) Paukovitz, Mark Pilat, and Bethany (Tyler) Chapman; her great nephew Lysander; and her great nieces Abigail and Kyla. She is also loved by her sister at heart Mary Demarest, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents. She tragically died with her husband and son.
