Michael Frank Pozan, age 89, of Livonia, passed away on August 10, 2024. He was born on June 27, 1935 in Detroit, Michigan; son of George and Mary (Dupay) Pozan. Michael was a graduate of Mackenzie High School in Detroit, class of 1953. After graduation he attended Lawrence Technological University in Southfield. He was united in marriage to Joanne Klenczar on May 11, 1957; they spent over 67 years lovingly devoted to one another.
Mike embarked on a lifelong career in the automotive industry, starting at Ford Motor Company. He later transitioned to Chrysler, where he worked as an Electrician Apprentice. After years of dedicated service, Mike retired in 1994 as a maintenance engineer at Ford Motor Company.
Mike was a devoted and active member of St. Genevieve–St. Maurice Catholic Church in Livonia. For many years, he served as an usher and helped count the collection after Mass. He also organized dances at the church for ushers and their families and collected bottle tabs from fellow parishioners and friends to raise funds for Children's Hospital of Michigan. Mike was a lifelong member of the Knights of Columbus, deeply committed to their charitable mission.
After retiring early from Ford Motor Company, Mike fully embraced life. He was passionate about bowling, where he was known for his unique Fred Flintstone "twinkle toes." He also showcased his athleticism in racquetball and enjoyed golfing with friends. Fishing and hunting were other hobbies he cherished, though he never shot a deer but proudly displayed his "buck" ($1). Mike was a dedicated supporter and coach of Livonia Little League teams, guiding young athletes in basketball, baseball, football, and softball. He was especially committed to ensuring his daughters and son were recognized for their sports achievements. With his wonderful sense of humor, Mike took pride in bringing laughter to those around him. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Michael is survived by his loving wife, Joanne; his children, Deborah Ledgerwood, Christina (Jon) Jobbe, Michael G. Pozan, and Susan Crossley; his siblings, Mary (Lawrence) Walker, George (Carol) Pozan, and Edward (Judith) Pozan; his grandchildren, Tara Ledgerwood, John Jobbe, Anthony (Bethany) Jobbe, Michael (Vanessa) Jobbe, Taylor (Thomas Sobeck) Pozan, Marina Pozan, Danielle (Zack) Leonard, and Nicholas (Steven Paschal) Crossley; and his great grandchildren, Destiny, Damari, Damonte, Makenzie, and Alessia. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Joanne Letourneau, and his great grandson Donte.
A funeral mass will be held Friday, August 16, 2024 at 11:00 a.m., visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. at St. Genevieve-St. Maurice Catholic Church, 29015 Jamison Street, Livonia, Michigan 48154. Rev. Father Tom Wilisowski will celebrate mass.
