Merle Ruth Duey

Age 88, of Farmington Hills, formerly of Northville and North Fort Meyers, Florida, passed away May 4, 2022. She was born in Fowlerville, Michigan on January 24, 1934; daughter of William and Emily (Mc Linchey) Speed. She graduated from Dearborn High School; Class of 1951. Merle was united in marriage to William L. Duey on May 10th, 1952, and they were lovingly devoted to one another for 38 years until his death on August 7, 1990.

Merle was a dedicated homemaker and always wanted the best for her family. A caring and concerned mother, she raised 5 children, of whom she was very proud. Merle had a strong work ethic which she instilled in each of her children. She enjoyed traveling and toured the United States in an RV with her husband. Merle was very creative and liked to make cards that she would send to friends and family. A treasure hunter at flea markets, she had a keen eye for spotting antiques. Merle was a cherished mother, grandmother, and great grandmother and will be missed dearly by those who loved her.

Merle is survived by her loving children, Deborah Kinde, David (Claire) Duey, Daniel (Nancy) Duey, and Dawn (Ricky) Winslow; her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, her son Dennis Duey, her granddaughter Cari Kinde, her son-in-law Kurt Kinde, and her parents.

Memorial Visitation will be held Monday, May 9 , 2022 from 3:30 – 5:30 with a Memorial Service at 5:30 p.m. at Casterline Funeral Home, 122 W. Dunlap, Northville. Deacon Ric Misiak from Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church will officiate the service. Mrs. Duey was laid to rest next to her husband at Glen Eden Memorial Park in Livonia.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions would be appreciated to the favorite charity of the giver’s choice.
