Mary Rita Daloisio

March 1, 1930 — January 16, 2023

Mary R. Daloisio

Age 92, of Northville passed away on January 16, 2023. She was born on March 1, 1930 in Detroit, Michigan; daughter of Angelo and Natalina (Gallucci) Folino. Mary was united in marriage to Emilio Daloisio on May 12, 1951; they spent 51 years lovingly devoted to one another until his death on May 6, 2002.

She graduated from Fordson High School in Dearborn, class of 1949. After raising her family in Dearborn Heights, Mary moved to Northville in 1997. Mary was an entrepreneur; she and her husband owned several commercial properties including one of the first Dunkin’ Donuts in metro Detroit. Located in Dearborn, her family has fond memories of making the donuts.

Mary loved animals; while raising her family they had all types of animals around the house from dogs to ducks, racoons to chickens, pigeons to turtles and everything in between. She fed the deer all year and waited patiently to be visited by the deer and their fawns. Her family rehabilitated and rescued animals; believing pets are part of the family. Mary had a green thumb when it came to splitting and cultivating picturesque rose bushes.

Mary cherished relaxing at her condo on Sand Key Island in Clearwater, Florida, and spending time at her tranquil cottage in Newaygo, Michigan on the Muskegon River. Mary enjoyed going to formal dances with her husband at the American Legion and dancing into the night while listening to 1940’s music. She was very creative and a self-taught artist. Her main mediums were oil painting and ceramics. Mary had a gift for recreating art using any canvas she could. She once used a roller shade to reproduce a mallard painting that the family still treasures.

Mary was a gifted seamstress and an incredible cook and baker. She loved her Italian heritage, always surrounded by her family, and always welcomed visitors to her home. One of Mary’s favorite sayings was Mangia; she was happiest when she fed her family and friends. Family meant everything to her. Mary was a quick-witted, loving, and nurturing wife, mother, nana, and great nana (g nana). She will be deeply missed by her family and many friends.

Mary is survived by her children, Mary (Tim Welcer) McIntyre, Diana “Dena” (Michael) Kerchaert, Domenic “Nick” (Terri) Daloisio, and Natalina “Natalie” (Steve) Daloisio-Bundy; her sister Nancy (Frank) Gallucci; her sister-in-law Joyce Folino; her grandchildren, Anthony “Tony” (Debbie) Waxler, Dana “DJ” (Holly) Waxler, Lauren (Jason) Klos, Matthew (Vanessa) Kerchaert, Angela (Ian) Wagner, Michael Scott (Holly) Kerchaert, Domenic (Kathryne Gratopp) Daloisio, Chris (Liz) Evans, and Nathan (Carly) Evans; and great grandchildren, Cole, Sara, Bella, Amelia, Celina, Leo, Emmaline, Talullah, Dominic, Kaley, Josh, Naomi, Isabelle, Brian, Conner, and Isak with one more on the way. She was also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
