Mark A. Sanchez, age 55, of Northville passed away unexpectedly on August 24, 2023. He was born on September 9, 1967 in Detroit, Michigan; son of Arturo and Sandra (Mattonen) Sanchez. He graduated from Franklin High School, class of 1985. Following graduation, he enlisted to serve his country in the United States Marine Corps. Mark proudly served his country for a year before being medically discharged due to asthma.
Mark was a dedicated employee with Ford Motor Company for 30 years where he worked as a skilled tradesman. Mark’s favorite hobby was horse racing, it all began as a child when he followed Secretariat’s record-breaking races. He traveled to California, Florida, Kentucky, and New York visiting tracks like Churchill Downs and Bellmont Park. The thrill of watching live racing was a hobby Mark and his mom enjoyed together. Mark loved listening to Elvis Presley; his radio station in his car never changed from the Elvis station. Some of his favorite destinations were Tennessee, Mexico, and the Florida Keys where he fit right in with his Tommy Bahama style. He was an outdoorsman, whether it was going to the beach watching the waves or visiting the UP for the scenic views. Mark was a dog lover. He had a special bond with his dog Duke. Duke gave him unconditional love and support when he needed it most.
Mark was an excellent cook, a grill master, and food connoisseur. He enjoyed eating Mexican food with his family and friends, a tradition he began with his father while learning to appreciate his culture. He loved living the good life and being with his friends at his favorite hangouts. Spending time with his family, especially time with his daughter, was the most important aspect of Mark’s life. When his daughter was growing up, he treasured the time he spent with his “little buddy”.
Mark is survived by his daughter Lauren Sanchez; his daughter’s mother Sharon Olech; his mother Sandra Sanchez; his sisters, Wanda Sanchez and Linda Sanchez; and his furry companion Duke. He was preceded in death by his father Arturo Sanchez.
The visitation will be held Wednesday, August 30, 2023 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with a funeral service at 7:00 p.m. at Casterline Funeral Home, 122 West Dunlap, Northville. Deacon Ric Misiak will officiate the service.
