Marjorie (Marge) J. Kucher
Age 83, resident of Northville for 53 years, passed away on July 7, 2022. She was born on January 2, 1939 in Bellaire, Ohio; daughter of Gilbert and Mildred (Dziadus) Rusciolelli. Marge graduated from Denby High School in Detroit, class of 1957, where she was a cheerleader. Following high school, she attended the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, where she was an active member of her Alpha Delta Pi sorority. She graduated in 1961 with a Bachelor of Arts in Education and later went on to complete her Master of Arts from Eastern Michigan University in 1981. On August 27, 1960 she was united in marriage to her high school sweetheart, Robert S. Kucher; they spent 35 loving years together until his death on February 8, 1996.
Marge was a dedicated teacher. She began her career in 1961 teaching 1 st grade for Wayne Schools. In 1963 she left the workforce and spent the next 13-year raising her family. Marge returned to teaching in 1976 as a substitute teacher for Northville and Plymouth Schools. She secured a full-time position in 1980 as a Junior High School Reading Specialist with Plymouth Schools which she held until retiring in 1997.
Marge was a member of Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church in Northville for many years. In retirement, Marge was very involved with the Northville Chapter of the University of Michigan Alumni Association; she helped with fundraising, hosted football watch parties, and volunteered during senior send offs. Very social and outgoing, Marge was active with various senior groups and widow social groups. She enjoyed celebrating happy hour, dining out with friends and family, and trying her luck at the casino. A friend of the arts, Marge loved to read, listen to music, and attend the theater. Artistic herself, she liked to sing, dance, draw, and play the piano. Marge’s favorite hobby was travel, she visited many places in the United States and many exotic locations all over the world. She especially loved the glitz and glamour of cruising. Marge devoted her life to raising her family, teaching, caring for her husband during his illness, and traveling the world, while becoming fiercely independent in the process. She is a beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt, and friend and will be missed by all who loved her.
Marge is survived by her loving children, Gary (Melanie) Kucher, Leslie (Doug) Burns, and Dawn Kucher; her sister, Dee (Dan) MacRae; and nieces Elizabeth (John) Grupp and Missy (Charlie) O’Keefe and their families. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her sister Joyce Rusciolelli, and her brother John Rusciolelli.
The Visitation will be held Sunday, July 10, 2022 from Noon until 6:00 p.m. at Casterline Funeral Home, 122 West Dunlap, Northville. The Funeral Mass will be held Monday, July 11, 2022 at 10:30 a.m., in state beginning at 10:00 a.m., at St. Kenneth Catholic Church, 14951 N. Haggerty Road, Plymouth. Mrs. Kucher will be laid to rest with her husband at Rural Hill Cemetery in Northville.
