Margaret H. Taylor, age 89, of Spring Arbor previously of Livonia, passed away on September 28, 2024. She was born on February 11, 1935; daughter of Floyd and Hazel (Storm) Taylor. Peggy, as she was known, graduated with the class of 1953 from Garden City High School. She attended Michigan State University where she earned a bachelor’s degree in education. Peggy began teaching right after college and was a dedicated middle school physical education teacher at Dearborn Heights Public Schools; she retired after 25 years.
Peggy had a passion for both cross-country and downhill skiing, embracing the snowy season with enthusiasm. When the weather warmed up, she enjoyed golfing with family and friends. She cherished traveling with her siblings to exciting destinations in South American such as Peru and Europe, making lasting memories. Peggy was always on the move, whether taking walks or staying active in the kitchen, where her culinary talents shone. At family gatherings Peggy was known for her delicious salads. She was also a skilled baker, especially famous for her mouthwatering cookie bars. From an early age, Peggy embraced the role of caregiver, offering kindness and love to those around her. With a sharp sense of humor and a love for mystery novels by Mary Higgins Clark, Peggy’s warmth and laughter will be remembered by all who knew her.
Peggy is survived by her sisters, Marcia Taylor and Joan (Doyle) Agent; her nieces and nephews, Paul Taylor, Theresa (Michael) Cunningham, Sonja (Dave) Edson, Richie (Dawn) Wooley, Denise (Mike) Myles, and Aleah (Tom) Rohweder; her cousins, Michael Leonard, Russell (Vicki) Leonard, Carolyn (John) Podina, and Cathy (Mitchell) Ramsey; 11 great nieces and nephews, and 4 great-great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, James Taylor, Leslie Taylor, and William Taylor; and her nephew Dean Wooley.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, October 8, 2024 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held Wednesday, October 9, 2024 at 11:00 a.m., with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. at Casterline Funeral Home, 122 West Dunlap, Northville. A graveside service will be held Wednesday, October 9, 2024 at 2:30pm at Glen Eden Memorial Park, 35667 8 Mile Road, Livonia. Pastor Christopher Fairbairn with St. Paul Lutheran Church will officiate the service.
