August 11, 1937 — February 7, 2023

Margaret A. Cassady

Our beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and aunt passed away on February 7, 2023 at age 85. She was born on August 11, 1937 in Plymouth, Michigan; daughter of Stephen and Mary (Kopsey) Schomberger. Margaret was a graduate of Plymouth High School, class of 1954. She was united in marriage to Allen W. Cassady on April 25, 1959; spending over 60 years devoted to their love and their family.

Margaret gave the great and rare gift of unconditional love to her children, grandchildren and the students she dedicated over 30 years to while working in the Northville School District. She was the calm and quiet counterbalance to a busy world. For Margaret, was never anything more important than the person who walked through her door. Ready with a delighted smile and an ear, she gave ballast to those who were lucky enough to enter. “Gram’s Living Room” was a place of love and safety that will be impossible to replace and forever missed.

Beyond family gatherings and Sundays at “The Lake,” Margaret loved playing bingo with her women, was an avid reader, and crocheted a blanket for every new baby. Coffee at the Copper Kettle, playing pinochle with Pat and Ham, and long conversations on summer patios after dark. Marg was a woman steeped in family. She was dedicated to her family and adored her grandchildren. Mom, Gram, GDog, GiGi - you were the constant in all of our lives.

Margaret is survived by her children, Charles (Janice) Cassady, Karen (John) Starcevich, Katherine (Sam) Mastantuono, Jane (Levon Yengoyan) Cassady, and Kristin (Chris) Mulcahy; her sister Helen Gellner; her brother Tom (Dorie) Schomberger; her sister-in-law Fay Schomberger; her grandchildren, Simone Mastantuono, Jessica (Phil) Streccius, Jack Mastantuono, Hannah Starcevich, Chase Cassady, Johnny Starcevich, Shae Bradley, Hunter Cassady, and John Yengoyan; her great grandchild Lauren Mastantuono and was eagerly awaiting the birth of her second great grandchild Maximus Streccius. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and her siblings, Agnes Susko, Rosemary Schomberger, Evelyn McNamara, Steven Schomberger, Pat Kubitskey, Ed Schomberger, and George Schomberger.

Memorial visitation will be held on Saturday, February 11, 2023 from 10am until Noon with a memorial service beginning at Noon at Casterline Funeral Home, 122 West Dunlap, Northville.  Margaret will be laid to rest with her husband at Great Lakes National Cemetery.
