Linda L. Bashur

Age 73, of Novi, formerly of Redford, passed away peacefully at home on August 20, 2021. She was born January 2, 1948 in Detroit, Michigan; daughter of Leslie and Eleanor (nee Doyle) Saunders.  She graduated from Thurston High School in Redford; Class of 1965.  Linda was united in marriage to Gary J. Bashur on November 16, 1990; they spent 30 loving years devoted to one another as husband and wife, but together for over 38 years.

Linda worked for 31 years at Ford Motor Company.  She retired in 2004, as an Administrative Assistant to the Corporate Economics and Strategic Issues Office within the Global Finance Department.  Her responsibilities included being the Executive Assistant to the Chief Economist as well as overall office coordination for a large team of economists.   Linda was a member of the American Legion Post 147 Auxiliary in Northville.

For many years Linda had a wonderful group of friends that she met for yoga class on Thursday evenings which was most often followed by dinner and drinks.  She also attended a yoga and strength training class at Schoolcraft College with some of the same women.  In the late 80’s and early 90’s Linda and her husband spent every weekend in the summer power boating on the Great Lakes.  They docked their boat at a marina in Algonac and cruised all over Lake St. Clair, Lake Erie, into the North Channel, and Georgian Bay making many lasting friendships along the way.  More recently they travelled to Sanibel Island for several weeks each winter.  While she was there one of her favorite things to do was gather seashells to add to her vast collection.  Linda enjoyed reading all types of books and searching her family’s genealogy.  She also enjoyed going to the casino, playing board games, and cards.  An animal lover, Linda adored her cats Max and Molly.

Linda is survived by her beloved husband, Gary J. Bashur; her sister Donna (Al) Low; her nieces and nephews, Jaclyn  (Bill) Celli, Lindsay (Dan) Dumont, Angie (Chad) Myers, Elizabeth Bashur, and Michael Bashur; 8 great nieces and great nephews; and many cousins, extended family, and close friends. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Memorial Visitation will be held Saturday, September 11, 2021 from 10:00 a.m. until Noon with a Memorial Service at Noon at Casterline Funeral Home, 122 West Dunlap, Northville.
