Kurt R. Waggener
Age 66, longtime resident of Livonia, passed away July 22, 2022. He was born on July 22, 1956 in Detroit, Michigan; son of Russell and Sally (Walborn) Waggener. Kurt is survived by his loving wife, Pamela Waggener; his daughters, Julie (Michael) Scott and Jessica Waggener; his father, Russell Waggener; his grandchildren, Annabelle, Landon, and Jack; his sister, Jane (Scott) Eeley; his brother-in-law, Gregg (Missy) Bonamici, DDS; and 3 nieces and 2 nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother.
Kurt graduated from Dearborn High School; Class of 1974. He continued his education at Ferris State University with a bachelor’s degree in automotive technology and heavy equipment. Kurt was united in marriage to Pamela A. Bonamici on September 30, 1978; they spent 43 loving years devoted to one another.
Following his graduation from Ferris State University, Kurt began a career with Ford Motor Company. In 1992, he went to work as a Sales Manager for Motor City Truck, a heavy truck dealership. Kurt continued his successful career working in sales and as a Sales Manager for Tri County International where he earned the Diamond Award for top sales with the company before retiring in 2021.
Kurt loved to spend time with family. He especially adored his grandchildren and cherished the time he spent teaching them how to fish, mow the grass and watching their activities most notably soccer games and robotics competitions. One of his favorite places to be was his cottage on Archer Lake in Quincy. He enjoyed endless days on his boat and fishing with his own handmade lures.
Throughout the years, Kurt had many interests and hobbies. He was always tinkering with some type of machine, most often a car, tractor, or scooter. Kurt repaired and restored clocks; and as a member of the National Association of Watch and Clock Collectors he restored the Sir John Bennett Shop Clock at Greenfield Village over a two-year period. Kurt was a hockey fan and held season tickets to the Plymouth Whalers from their opening season to their last. In retirement, he became a coffee connoisseur and began roasting his own coffee beans. Kurt was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle, and friend; he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
A Memorial Visitation will be held at Casterline Funeral Home, 122 W. Dunlap, Northville on Thursday, July 28, 2022 from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. A Memorial Service will be held Friday, July 29, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. also at Casterline Funeral Home. Pastor James N. McGuire from Christ Presbyterian Church in Novi will officiate the service.
