Katherine A. Crossley

August 17, 1945 — October 13, 2023

Katherine “Cookie” Crossley, age 78, longtime resident of Livonia, passed away October 13, 2023.  She was born on August 17, 1945 in New York, New York; daughter of Kiril and Margaret (Howard) Karadjoff.

Katherine graduated from Benedictine High School in Detroit; class of 1963.  She continued her education at U of M Dearborn where she earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work.  Katherine was very well educated and while working as a single mother raising her children, she went on to earn a Master’s in Social Work and a Master’s in Psychology both from Wayne State University.  She instilled the importance of hard work and education in both of her children, insisting they each pursue advanced degrees.

Katherine worked as a Licensed Clinical Psychologist for Birmingham Public Schools for over 20 years before retiring.  She also maintained a private practice for many years.  Katherine volunteered her time and served on the board of directors for Vista Maria in Dearborn Heights.

Affectionately known as “Cookie” she loved spending time with her family, and especially adored her grandchildren and great grandchildren.  She also loved spending time with her rescue dog, Callie.  Whether it was her famous spinach pie or her delicious coffee cake at the holidays; she made sure her family was well fed, telling them “Eat, you will feel better.” Cookie enjoyed her many trips to France and St. Barts in the Caribbean.  One of her favorite places was watching the sunset on Lake Michigan.  Each year, Cookie relished family vacations up north on Lake Michigan and also liked to spend time with friends at their home in Glen Arbor.  She kept her mind sharp by reading and watching the news daily.  Cookie was a great friend and enjoyed her weekly lunches and dinners with girlfriends.  She was a beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend; Cookie will be missed by all who loved her.

Cookie is survived by her loving children, Scott (Danielle) Crossley and Ann (Bill) Gleed; her grandchildren, Danielle (Zack) Leonard, Nicholas Crossley, Jasmine White, and Jalen White; her great grandchildren, Kyrin White and Mackenzie Leonard; her siblings, Margaret Karadjoff, Sonia Fields, Michael Karadjoff, Terese (Brent Forman) Karadjoff-Forman, and Peter (Ann) Karadjoff; and many nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother John Karadjoff.
