On October 10, 1959, she married James Grant MacVeigh, sharing over 32 years of marriage until his passing in 1991. Together, they created a beautiful family, and June's greatest joy in life was her children, Sheri and Gordon, who she treasured beyond measure. She was blessed with a wonderful son-in-law, Tim, and a loving daughter-in-law, Julia, whom she cherished deeply and who returned her love in equal measure.
June was a graduate of Runnymede Collegiate Institute in Toronto, Canada. She began her professional journey as an executive assistant at Detroit Bank and Trust. In 1965, she took a hiatus from her career to dedicate herself to raising her children. She later returned to the workforce in 1979 as a secretary for a printing company, retiring in 1994.
Known for her warmth, kindness, and generosity, June touched the hearts of everyone she met. She had a sharp intellect and was an expert at crossword puzzles, sudoku, Wheel of Fortune, and Jeopardy. A voracious reader, she loved delving into thrilling murder mysteries. Her adventurous spirit led her to travel across Europe and the United States, creating lasting memories with loved ones. Among her favorite trips were a recent visit to Niagara Falls with her granddaughters and a magical journey to Paris with her daughter, son-in-law and granddaughter.
June adored her granddaughters, Emily and Sophia, and relished every moment spent with them. Whether walking along the beach, reading, or playing board games at her Port Sanilac cottage, she created a legacy of love and laughter. Her compassion extended to animals, and she delighted in her daughter's and son’s family pets.
June is survived by her devoted daughter and best friend, Sheri (Tim Wirth) MacVeigh; her daughter-in-law, Julia MacVeigh; her beloved granddaughters, Emily Wirth and Sophia MacVeigh; her siblings, Pam Hoogerhyde and Ron Stark; and her companion, Joe Schan.
