June 25, 1935 — November 22, 2022

June C. Freydl

Age 87, of Northville and East Jordan, Michigan, passed away on November 22, 2022. She was born on June 25, 1935 in Detroit, Michigan; daughter of Curt and Fern (Hutton) Roberts. She was united in marriage to Robert Freydl and they were devoted to each other until his death in 2007 after more than 50 years of marriage.

June was the first in her family to graduate from Northwestern High School, class of 1953. On an academic scholarship, she continued her education at Eastern Michigan University where she graduated with a Bachelor of Education. She began a teaching career shortly after graduation, teaching Spanish in the Livonia Public Schools. While working, June earned her Master of Education from University of Michigan. She taught at Stevenson High School and Holmes Junior High School for many years before retiring in the late 1980’s. Retirement to June was too uninspiring, so she took a part-time job teaching Spanish at the William Allen Academy.

In 2001 June and Bob moved to East Jordan, south of Charlevoix, where they tended to their farm. June was an active member of the East Jordan Garden Club and loved to swim. At the age of 76, after completing a viticulture class at North Central Michigan College, she planted wine grape varietals and established Jordan Valley Vineyards. June kept busy and active with the vineyard from April to October, she would then spend the winter months in Northville near her family. She adored her furry companion, Princess Leia, who was/is the best cat ever. June was proud to be Republican and supported conservative views. She never met anyone she did not like and had a heart of gold. June was a kind and loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, aunt, and friend.

She is survived by her son Karl R. Freydl, D.O.; her sister Mary (Glen) Whitehead; and her grandchildren, Matt Freydl, Katelyn Freydl, Sofia Freydl, and Josef Freydl. She is also loved by many nieces, nephews, and friends. June was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Bob; her son Foster Freydl; and her sisters, Peggy Whitehead, Ruth Baubien, and Judy Roberts.

A service will be planned after the new year. If desired, donations can be made to a local animal shelter in June’s name.
