Judith S. "Judy" Morrocco

May 31, 1944 — July 7, 2021

Judith S. Morrocco

Age 77, of Northville, passed away July 7, 2021.  Judith was born May 31, 1944 in Detroit, Michigan; daughter of Kenneth and Mildred (nee Walters) Sarut.  She graduated from Cooley High School in Detroit; Class of 1962.  Judy was united in marriage to James S. Morrocco on April 29, 1966; they spent 49 years devoted to one another until his death on July 2, 2015.

Judy was a proud daughter, sister, niece, cousin, wife, mother, aunt, grandmother and friend. She warmed your spirit with her humor, warmed your stomach with her incredible cooking and warmed your heart with her signature response, “I love you more.”

We have lost someone very special. Judy was generous, creative and encouraging. Her sense of humor was uncanny. She had style, grace and charm when on her husband’s business trips, tremendous hospitality when hosting and easy going when on vacation.

She was a mom like no other. Judy was consoling and empathic most of the time but would also give it to you straight even if it hurts because she wanted the best for you. Her love was unconditional.

Like most grandmothers or Mimi as she was known, loved to spoil her grandchildren but it wasn’t always gifts, it was life lessons and patience. Mimi took the time to explain ( with a smile ) so her grandchildren would understand better.

Mimi was in constant motion. Always cooking, antiquing, playing games, casino runs, gardening and reading on the internet about fashion, new recipes, Hollywood gossip and décor.

Judy transformed her hobby and sense of style into a business with Just Judy Interior Design. Each holiday her home was like a story book. Complete with the aroma of scratch made cooking, seasonal colors and whimsical figurines. You always left with a smile, full stomach and gift just because .

It’s only been a short time, but the world already feels different without Mimi nearby…

Judy is survived by her loving children, Todd (fiancé Tracey O’Hara) Morrocco and Carey (Karl) Vethacke; her grandchildren, Joshua, Aidan, Emma, and Harper; and her brother-in-law, Kenneth Morrocco.  She was preceded in death by her husband and her parents.

The visitation will be held Monday, July 12, 2021 from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.  The funeral service will be held Tuesday, July 13, 2021 at Noon at Casterline Funeral Home, 122 West Dunlap, Northville.  She will be laid to rest next to her husband at Rural Hill Cemetery in Northville.

The family would appreciate memorial contributions to American Red Cross , 7800 Outer Drive West, Ste. 205, Detroit, MI 48235 or Barbara Ann Karmanos Cancer Institute , Contributions – VE01ES, 4100 John R, Detroit, MI 48201.
