Judith A. DeFrancesco, age 82, a longtime resident of Northville, passed away May 19, 2023. She was born on May 25, 1940 in Detroit, Michigan; daughter of E. Keith and Dorothy (Kline) Jack. She was united in marriage to Michael T. DeFrancesco on August 13, 1966; dedicated to each other and their family for over 56 years.
Judith graduated from Dearborn High School, class of 1958. After graduation she continued her education at Eastern Michigan University where she earned a bachelor’s degree in education. Judith worked as a teacher at Cady Elementary School with the Wayne-Westland Public Schools. Once her family began to grow, she put her career on hold to raise her children. Because of her keen eye for decorating, she decided to return to school where she earned an associate degree in interior design. Judith worked for Longs Plumbing for 8 years then went to work for a private interior design company as well as other retail stores. Her final career move was working at the Northville District Library at the circulation desk. She retired in 2010.
Judith was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Livonia for over 20 years. She was also a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Mayflower Society. Judith volunteered as a Brownie and Girl Scout Leader when her daughter was young. She was creative and enjoyed scrapbooking, making unique personalized cards, and sharing them with others. Judith and her family enjoyed camping all over Michigan with close friends when they were younger. In her later years, she enjoyed travelling; taking many cruises to warm, beautiful destinations like the Caribbean.
Her family was the most important aspect of her life. Judith loved hosting family gatherings, special celebrations, and dinners. Christmas time was magical, spending time with family and decorating for the holiday. Her love for Christmas went beyond the month of December and a few of her decorations are kept up all year long. Friends and family poured their hearts out to Judith, she just listened, never judged. She was a devoted wife, loving mom, and an amazing grandmother. Judith showed an incredible amount of strength in the last few years and will be deeply missed.
She is survived by her husband, Michael; her children, David (Linda) DeFrancesco and Deborah (Scott) Lone; her grandsons, Nicholas Lone and Nathan Lone; and her brothers, Keith (Teri) Jack and John (Annette) Jack. Judith was preceded in death by her parents.
