Joseph W. Tomasak, age 72, longtime resident of Northville passed away on January 23, 2025. He was born on January 29, 1952 in Dearborn, Michigan; son of Joseph and Josephine (Vidumski) Tomasak. He was a proud graduate of St. Hedwig High School in Detroit; class of 1970. Joseph was united in marriage to Patti A. Ely on February 14, 1976; they spent 49 years lovingly devoted to one another.

Joseph dedicated 45 years to a remarkable career with Ford Motor Company, beginning straight out of high school in the parts department. He earned an apprenticeship as an electrician and later transferred to the Engine Plant at Rouge Assembly. Most of his career was spent as an electrician, where he excelled in his craft, and for the final 16 years, he served as the Preventive Maintenance Coordinator. A member of UAW Local 600, Joseph was known for his incredible work ethic and passion for his job. Joseph retired after more than four decades of service with the company.

Joseph was a hardworking man, driven by his unwavering devotion to providing the best life for his family. A loving husband, father, and grandfather, he cherished every moment spent with his loved ones. Joseph took immense pride in supporting his children and grandchildren in all their extracurricular activities and impressively never missed one of his daughter’s college softball games. He cherished the countless hours spent driving radio-controlled cars through the streets with his son and grandson. Sports were a lifelong passion for Joseph. He was an enthusiastic supporter of Michigan State football and basketball teams, as well as his beloved Detroit Lions. Whether cheering in the stands or watching from home, he found joy in any sporting event.

Joseph was a member of the Brewery Collectibles Club of America, dedicating himself since 1972 to amassing an impressive collection of beer memorabilia. His collection featured items from Carling Black Label, Stroh’s, and various Pennsylvania breweries. Joseph had a zest for life and enjoyed simple pleasures: savoring a good coney dog with onions, listening to rock and roll and Motown music, experiencing the thrill of roller coasters, and embarking on road trips across the United States with friends and family. Above all, Joseph leaves behind a legacy of love, and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Joseph is survived by his loving wife, Patti Tomasak; his children, Nicholas (Kristi) Tomasak and Lindsay (Craig) Reynolds; and his grandchildren, Braeden Tomasak, Addisen Tomasak, Lola Reynolds, and Cash Reynolds.  He was preceded in death by his parents.
