Jon M. Nicholls
Age 81, a longtime resident of Northville, passed away on March 17, 2024. He was born September 26, 1942 in Laurium, Michigan; son of Walter and Winifred (Warth) Nicholls.
Jon moved to Northville with his parents at the age of 12. After graduating from Northville High School in the class of 1960, he pursued further education at the College of Creative Studies in Detroit. Leveraging his innate talents, Jon embarked on a lifelong journey with Ford Motor Company as a Graphic Arts Designer.
In 1966, Jon was drafted into the United States Army, where he served with pride until his honorable discharge in 1968. Throughout his service, he forged enduring friendships with his military comrades and became a Life Member of Northville VFW Post 4012.
Music was a significant part of Jon's life; he enjoyed playing the guitar and immersing himself in the melodies of the 60s. A true car aficionado, Jon cherished the 1953 Ford F-100 he lovingly restored, dedicating countless hours to its rebuilding and refurbishment. During summers, he found solace at his cottage in Caseville, often spending time on the water indulging in boating and fishing.
Jon is survived by his cousin, Carol (Don) Borich. He was preceded in death by his parents. Carol and Don express their heartfelt gratitude to Carol, Doris, Madelyn, and Chantelle at Oakmont Northville for their loving care, as well as to the dedicated care team at Residential Hospice.
Jon's memory lives on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him, his legacy marked by his passion for creativity, service, and the simple joys of life. Jon will be laid to rest at Great Lakes National Cemetery where military honors will be rendered. Memorial contributions to VFW Post 4012, 438 S. Main Street, Northville, MI 48167.
