Johnnie L. Hamilton

April 1, 1961 — August 27, 2019

Johnnie L. “JR” Hamilton, Jr., age 58, of Garden City, formerly of Northville, passed away peacefully August 27, 2019. He was born April 1, 1961 in Augusta, Georgia; son of Johnnie L. Hamilton and Carol J. Hamilton (nee Ferrera).  Johnnie married the love of his life Angela A. Olszewski on August 18, 1989; they just celebrated their 30 th wedding anniversary.

Johnnie attended Cranbrook School before transferring to West Bloomfield High School where he graduated in 1979.  He continued his education at Northern Michigan University and later attended Specs Howard School of Media Arts.  After he earned a degree from Specs Howard, he worked for many Detroit sports teams setting up the cameras and broadcasting equipment.  For the past 15 years Johnnie has been the owner of Cedar Creek, Inc. a building and general contracting company.

Johnnie loved corvettes; red was his color of choice.  He currently owned a 50 th anniversary edition Corvette with Ferrari doors that he watched come off the line.  He loved music, going to concerts, and playing guitar.  Johnnie was an avid golfer and played whenever he could.  He also enjoyed boating.  A football fan, his favorite team was the Detroit Lions.  Johnnie had a wonderful sense of humor and was very funny.  He was a great friend and adored his dog Bailey.  He hosted many family barbecues and an epic Halloween party each year to ensure his family and friends spent time together.  The most important thing in his life was his family; his greatest joy was his grandson Dominic.

Johnnie is survived by his beloved wife, Angela A. Hamilton; his daughter, Madison (Danny Berry) Hamilton; his grandson, Dominic Hamilton; his mother, Carol Hamilton; his stepmother, Betty Hamilton; his siblings, Jeremy (Delta) Hamilton, Anthony (Marlene) Hamilton, Michael (Jessica) Hamilton, Courtney Vanloo, and Jason (Carolyn) Hamilton.  He was also loved by many nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his father.

Visitation will be held Saturday, August 31, 2019 from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. with a Memorial Service at 1:00 p.m. at Casterline Funeral Home, 122 W. Dunlap, Northville. Rev. Keith Lemley from Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Farmington Hills will officiate the service.  The family is asking everyone to show their support by wearing black and red if possible.
