John M. Telepo

John M. Telepo

Age 79, longtime resident of Northville, passed away October 26, 2021. He was born in Easton, Pennsylvania; son of John and Florence (Stella) Telepo.  He was united in marriage to Bettie Atkinson on April 22, 1967; they spent 54 loving years as husband and wife.

John graduated from Wilson High School in Easton, Pennsylvania; Class of 1960.  Following high school he attended University of Richmond in Richmond, Virginia on a full ride basketball scholarship.  While there, he was first team All-American in basketball and played baseball.  He was a member of Sigma Epsilon Fraternity.  Following graduation from University of Richmond with a bachelor’s degree in accounting he took a position with the IRS.  In 1977, he was a founding partner of Triad Metals, Inc. in Detroit which he successfully ran until his retirement in 2004.

John was a member of Detroit Athletic Club and Meadowbrook Country Club.  An avid golfer, he played in the father and son Golf Association of Michigan tournament for over 40 years.  John was a world traveler and visited all 7 continents.  One of the many highlights of his life was attending the Michigan State Rose Bowl in 2014 with friends and family.  John, who was very generous, sponsored his son’s hockey teams throughout the year and donated the baseball scoreboard that you can see on the field off of 8 mile at Northville High School.  A hockey fan, John had season tickets to the Detroit Red Wings for 30 years.  He enjoyed working outside and kept a meticulous lawn and yard.  John adored his grandchildren and was their biggest fan.  He never missed a tennis match, figure skating event, swim meet, soccer, or hockey game.  John was an excellent husband, father, and papa and was completely devoted to his family.

John is survived by his loving wife, Bettie Telepo; his sons, Kevin (Laura) Telepo, Bradley Telepo, and Matthew (Nicole) Telepo; his siblings, Larry Telepo, Lorraina Telepo, and Ron Telepo; and his grandchildren Emma and Alex.  He was preceded in death by his parents.

The Visitation will be held Friday, October 29, 2021 from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at Meadowbrook Country Club with a funeral service at 4:00 p.m. at Meadowbrook Country Club, 40941 Eight Mile Rd., Northville.  Pastor Dominic Russo from Oakland Church in Rochester will officiate the service.

In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate memorial contributions to The Children’s Home of Easton , 2000 S. 25 th Street, Easton, PA 18042.
