John R. Raubacher

John R. Raubacher, age 89, longtime resident of Northville, passed away September 19, 2019. He was born July 27, 1930 in Janesville, Wisconsin; son of George and Margaret (nee Earle) Raubacher.  He graduated from Janesville High School; Class of 1948.  John continued his education at University of Wisconsin where he earned a bachelor’s degree in economics.  Throughout college he was a member of the ROTC, after graduation he joined the United States Army and served during the Korean War.  John was united in marriage to Hazel M. Terry on November 22, 1956; they spent 62 loving years devoted to one another as husband and wife.

John worked as a supervisor with General Motors for 33 years.  He began his career in Atlanta and retired in 1988 from the General Motors Tech Center in Warren.  He was a member of St. Kenneth Catholic Church in Plymouth.  John was an avid reader; his favorite subjects were history and sports.  He was a huge football fan; always cheering for U of M, Green Bay Packers, and his alma mater University of Wisconsin.  When his sons were younger, he loved being a part of their little league football teams and volunteered his time as a coach with the Livonia Junior Football League for 9 years.  He enjoyed travelling throughout the United States and spending the winters in Sarasota, Florida.  John’s greatest joy was his wife and spending time with his family.

John is survived by his beloved wife, Hazel M. Raubacher; his sons, Terry (Mary Beth) Raubacher, Michael (Sondra) Raubacher, and David (Tiffany) Raubacher; his grandchildren, Laura (Brian) Tremblay, Christopher, Alana, Evan (Samantha), Shelby, and Savannah; and his great grandson, Luke.  He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother George.

Mr. Raubacher will be laid to rest at Glen Eden Memorial Park in Livonia.  Private family services will be held.  In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate memorial contributions to Beaumont Cancer Care Associates, c/o Dr. Ismael Jaiyesimi, 3577 W. 13 Mile Rd., Ste. 404, Royal Oak, MI 48073.
