John R. “Bob” Langan
Age 82, longtime resident of South Lyon, formerly of Novi, passed away on January 26, 2022. He was born on July 30, 1939 in Detroit, Michigan; son of Thomas and Susan (Thompson) Langan. He graduated from U of D Jesuit High School in Detroit; Class of 1957. Bob continued his education at University of Detroit Mercy where he earned a bachelor's degree in 1961. He proudly served his country in the Air Force Reserve and was called into active duty during the Cuban Missile Crisis. Bob was united in marriage to Yvonne M. Regan on December 17, 1982; they spent 39 loving years devoted to one another.
A devout catholic and very faithful, Bob was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in South Lyon. He would want to be known as a philantropistic farmer and land baron. An incredibly hard worker, to say he was retired meant he had a job.
Bob was an avid golfer and achieved three holes-in-one in his lifetime. He loved being outdoors and in the dirt. Bob spent countless hours on his equipment; tractors and backhoes, mowing or chopping down trees. He was a brilliant musician; a talented pianist, he could even sing opera. He played “trivia for a buck” with friends and family, if you could answer his question correctly you would win money. For the past 30 years, he has been a regular at Bob’s Deli where he hung out at the self-coined table of knowledge. Bob, who was wildly irreverent, had a fantastic sense of humor and love to make people laugh. He was a beloved husband, father, and grandfather and miss be missed by all who knew him.
Bob is survived by his loving wife, Yvonne Langan; his children, John “Bob” Langan, Jr., Father Jeffrey Langan, Jamie (Kristine) Langan, Meghan Faulkner, Katie Langan, Ryan Langan, and Shannon (J.T.) Pillsbury; and his grandchildren, Ethan, Joanie, Maddie, Trey, Austin, Nicholas, Kaylee, Zoe, Logan, and Cooper. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Thomas Langan, and his daughter-in-law Jennifer Langan.
