John C. Childers

Age 79, of Northville, passed away on April 23, 2022. He was born on August 4, 1942 in Detroit, Michigan; son of John and Dorothy (nee Hanley) Childers. John was united in marriage to Julie L. Lucich on September 7, 1996; devoted to the love they shared for over 25 years.

He graduated from St. Joe’s Catholic High School, class of 1960 and continued his education at Wayne State University. John proudly served in the United State Coast Guard. In 1973, John founded Childers Print and Graphics and was a large part of the Detroit Metropolitan printing community for many decades. As the industry began to change with technological advances and new demands in the marketplace, John revamped his organization to keep up with the times and formed Concord Marketing Services.  John was a colleague, boss, supplier, and customer to so many in the printing, graphics, marketing, and warehousing industry. He will be greatly missed.

John was a man of great faith and was a dedicated member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Northville. While his work was a big part of his life, John was passionate about spending time with family, friends, and his pets. He was also an avid recreational boater. A seasoned captain, John was happiest with friends and family onboard, heading the KBear to its next port of call. He enjoyed a great meal out. Extremely intelligent, he shared his knowledge of life and business with the many who were lucky to have him as a mentor. John was an incredibly kind and loving husband, father, poppy, and friend.

He is survived by his wife Julie L. Childers; his daughters, Sean (Paul) Arthur and Kathryn “Katie” Childers; his grandchildren, who lovingly called him Poppy, Matthew, Erica, Mackenzie, and Josh; and his great grandchildren, Mila, Evelyn, and Greysen. John was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Thomas Hanley Childers.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, April 27, 2022 from 2pm until 8pm at Casterline Funeral Home, 122 West Dunlap, Northville. A funeral service will be held Thursday, April 28, 2022 at 11am, with visiting beginning at 10am at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 201 Elm Street, Northville.
