Joann E. Ozdaglar

January 25, 1935 — March 21, 2021

JoAnn Elizabeth Van Slambrouck Ozdaglar

Age 86, of Northville, passed away suddenly on Sunday on March 21, 2021 at her home. A native of Monroe, Michigan, she was born on January 25, 1935; daughter of the late Bernie and Lois Mac Van Slambrouck.  JoAnn was preceded in death by her sister Sylvia Glavin and six brothers, Thomas, Jim, Bill, Gene, Robert, and John Van Slambrouck.

JoAnn dedicated her life to helping others. She began a nursing career at Beaumont Hospital and retired as the Director of Nursing at Mercy Memorial Hospital in Monroe. After retirement she established a weight loss clinic, where she advised clients on nutritional approaches to a healthy lifestyle. After many years in Monroe, she moved to Farmington and then Northville where she began a career as a Nurse Advisor at several health food stores.

JoAnn loved playing and watching tennis. She enjoyed walking, shopping, reading metaphysical books, yoga, futuristic science, and teaching others about health. Taking care of her body and mind was especially important to her. One of her favorite things to do was to go walking in downtown Northville with her daughter, the destination was first the Farmers Market and then Starbucks for a beverage.

JoAnn is survived by her daughter Deniz (John) Strenski, her son Kurt (Millicent) Ozdaglar, her brother Richard (Anita) Van Slambrouck; and her grandchildren, Casey Strenski, Zoe Thorne, Jazmine Ozdaglar, Kalena Ozdaglar, and Patrick Williams. She was also loved by many friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to DAWG Rescue (Detroit Animal Welfare Group), 78440 McKay Road, Bruce Township, MI 48065 or online at www.dawghous.com . Another way to give in memory of JoAnn is to buy a friend or a stranger a beverage at Starbucks, then tell them why you are buying it (she loved drinking her Starbucks) and share a memory of JoAnn.
