Joan E. Tuckfield

July 12, 1930 — November 9, 2021

Joan E. Tuckfield

Age 91, of Mt. Pleasant and Ocala, Florida, formerly Northville, passed away on November 9, 2021. She was born on July 12, 1930 in Farmington, Michigan; daughter of Samuel and Emma (Spaller) Turner. She graduated from Redford High School; Class of 1948. Joan was united in marriage to John Tuckfield on June 17, 1950; they spent 60 loving years together as husband and wife until his death on October 8, 2010.

Joan worked at Fisher Body for General Motors in Detroit until she started her family. Once she had children, she devoted her life to her family and caring for them. When her children were older she went back to work at Freydl’s in downtown Northville.

Joan was a member of Crescent Sail Yacht Club in Grosse Pointe Farms since the 1970's.  She spent a lot of time there, making many friends and proudly serving the club when her husband was commodore.

She enjoyed traveling, among her favorite trips were Hawaii, Alaska, and throughout Europe while her husband was working in Germany.  Joan loved entertaining, and enjoyed decorating and planning as well as hosting the party.  She threw baby and wedding showers, hosted the holidays and decorated the yacht club for their events.  Joan made a lasting impression with anyone she met; she had a vivacious and kind personality.  She frequently ate her meals out and was a favorite at restaurants around town.  Joan was very generous and was always willing to lend a hand to anyone in need.  She had a wonderful sense of humor and used her great personality to crack jokes that no one saw coming.  Her love for her family was immense; she adored her grandchildren and was happy to spoil them while babysitting.  Joan’s true joy in life came from her family; she was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and sister.

Joan is survived by her loving children, Susan (Robert) Martin, Scott (Lynn) Tuckfield, Chris (Barbara) Tuckfield, and Lisa Hawkins; her grandchildren, Katherine (Rich) Ambrose, Debbie (Nick) Keetch, Wayne (Miranda) Hawkins, Brandon Hawkins, Haley Hawkins, Chris Hawkins, Joey Hawkins, Ryan (McKenna) Tuckfield and Michael Tuckfield; her great grandchildren, Jake, Luca, Milo, Bode, and Romy; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her brother Howard Turner and her sisters Elizabeth Meyfarth and Margaret Nelson.
