Jimmy "Jim" Olszewski

October 6, 1950 — March 25, 2020

Jimmy “Jim” Olszewski, age 69, longtime resident of Canton, passed away March 25, 2020. He was born October 6, 1950 in Dearborn, Michigan; son of Henry Joe and Marie May (nee Swingle) Olszewski.  Jimmy attended John Glen High School in Westland.  He was united in marriage to Lynne E. Tomlinson (nee Autry) on June 12, 1998; they spent 21 loving years together as husband and wife.

Jim worked for Federal Screw Works in Romulus, retiring recently after 51 years with the company.  While with Federal Screw Works Jim was instrumental in their union affairs, he was an advocate for things to be equal and fair in the workplace.

Jim was baptized at Trinity Evangelical Presbyterian Church and most recently attended Connection Church.

Jim was an avid fisherman.  He fished for walleye and salmon in the surrounding areas, but his favorite fishing was deep sea fishing in the Florida Keys.  Jim enjoyed traveling and visited many places throughout the United States and Mexico.  He was fascinated with many aspects of real estate and used his knowledge to buy investment properties, flip houses and own rental homes.  Jim was very patriotic; he loved his country and always flew the American flag.  An animal lover, Jim had a fondness for dogs and horses.  He was a wonderful friend, neighbor, and mentor; he would always help anyone in need.  Jim loved his family and cherished the time they spent together.

Jim is survived by his beloved wife, Lynne E. Olszewski; his daughter, Sherrie Jean Olszewski; his stepchildren, Lindsay (Joshua) Clark and Steven (Rachel) Tomlinson; his granddaughter, Collins Elizabeth Clark; and his brother Carl Olszewski.  He was preceded in death by his son James Daniel Olszewski, his brother Henry “Hank” Olszewski, and his parents.

A private service was held.  He was laid to rest next to his son at Rural Hill Cemetery in Northville.
