Jiangchuan "John" Xie

Jiangchuan “John” Xie (谢江川), age 57, of Northville, passed away peacefully at home February 21, 2020. He was born March 5, 1962 in Nanchang, Peoples Republic of China; son of Fenlong Xie (谢丰隆) and Yuanjiu Shu (舒远玖). He was united in marriage to Zhaohui “Dawn” Xu (许朝晖) on September 27, 1990. They spent 29 loving years together as husband and wife.

John got his bachelor degree in China and continued his education earning a master’s degree of mathematics from University of Western Ontario, a master’s of Statistics and Operation Research from Michigan State University, and a master’s of Computer Science from U of M Dearborn.

He was employed with Millennium Software as a software engineer since 2010 where he was working on developing and testing applications for Ford Motor Company.

John was a member of the U of M Alumni Association. He enjoyed playing table tennis. He enjoyed traveling and taking photos of the landscape during his travels. John had a passion for learning cooking and making Chinese cuisine at home. John volunteered as the Build Event Coach for Science Olympiad at Northville High School from 2015-2018. During this time, he coached his son to a National Championship at the Free Flight Plane Wright Stuff Event, it was a very special time for both of them. John was very kind and always helping others. He was a great friend and cherished the group that he kept in touch with from his time at university in China. John was a wonderful husband and father, he made sure his family was always well taken care of. He will be missed by all who loved him.

John is survived by his loving wife, Zhaohui “Dawn” Xu (许朝晖); his son, Austin Xie, his mother, Yuanjiu Shu (舒远玖); his mother-in-law, Ruzhen Li (李如珍), and his sisters, Hong (Yan Meng) Xie and Danping (Mingyu Zhu) Xie. He was preceded in death by his father.

A Time of Gathering will be held Thursday, February 27, 2020 from Noon until 2:00 p.m. with a Memorial Service at 2:00 p.m. at Casterline Funeral Home, 122 W. Dunlap, Northville.
