Jerry W. Frost

March 3, 1949 — October 4, 2024

Jerry W. Frost, 75, a longtime resident of Dearborn, passed away on October 4, 2024. Born on March 3, 1949, in Barbourville, Kentucky, he was the son of Otis and Jessie (Gray) Frost. A proud member of Cherry Hill High School's Class of 1967, Jerry went on to marry the love of his life, Kathleen M. Ursic, on October 8, 1971. Their love story began at an insurance company where they worked together, and from the moment they met, it was love at first sight. Just two weeks after, Jerry proposed, and for over 52 years, he remained a devoted and loving husband to Kathy.

Jerry supported his family by working as an Iron Worker in the construction industry for many years, belonging to the Iron Workers Local 25. His true passion, however, was food.  He attended culinary school, and also worked in hotel and restaurant management.  He was an incredible cook who especially loved breakfast for dinner, a favorite tradition in his household.

Jerry was a lifelong fan of the game of baseball, playing in his youth and then becoming an enthusiastic Detroit Tigers spectator later on.  He was an avid reader with a love for thrilling novels by authors such as Stephen King and Patricia Cornwell.  Jerry also enjoyed classic cars and Western television series from his childhood.  He bonded closely with his daughter’s dog, Bear, and before that, the family’s dog, Molly. However, his greatest joy and priority in life was his devotion to his wife and children. He and Kathy shared daily conversations about anything and everything, truly connecting on a profound level. Jerry was not just a talker, but an attentive listener.  He spent equal time bonding with his deaf/blind son over their shared hobbies, including reading The Dresden Files series and collecting baseball cards.  Jerry loved the open road, and always volunteered to drive his children around the country to interviews and school.  His deep affection for his family was so very evident in his selfless and devoted nature.

Jerry is survived by his loving wife Kathy; his children, Jamison Frost and Sara (Christopher Klacking) Frost, MD; his grandchildren, Cameron Klacking and Zoe Klacking; and his siblings, Otis Michael Frost, Brenda Brown, and Linda Rusnock. He was preceded in death by his infant daughter Jennifer Rebecca Frost, his parents, and his sister Sandra Frost.

Memorial contributions would be appreciated to Michigan Humane , 2937 E. Grand Blvd., Suite 800, Detroit, Michigan 48202.
