Jean Carbary

Age 62, longtime resident of Novi, passed away April 3, 2020.   She was born December 1, 1957 in Cleveland, Ohio; daughter of Steve and Nancy (nee Groebel) Harvilla.  She graduated from Thurston High School in Redford; Class of 1976.  She was united in marriage to James Carbary on June 25, 1977; they spent 42 loving years together until his death on March 25, 2020.

Jean was a devoted homemaker.  She took wonderful care of her family and was very involved in her daughters lives as they were growing up.  Jean was a great cook; she made dinner each night for her family and enjoyed preparing food for holidays and celebrations.  She also enjoyed watching Food Network and trying new recipes from various cooking shows.  Jean had a green thumb and grew beautiful flowers at her home.  One of her favorite past times was shopping for items she needed and wanted in her home, including groceries.  She adored playing with her cat, Oliver.  Jean loved her family and cherished the time they spent together, especially lunches with her mom and sister. She was truly loved and will be missed by her family and friends.

Jean is survived by her loving daughters, Sharon (David) Graciak and Shelly Carbary; her father Steve Harvilla; and her sister Susan Harvilla.  She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James Carbary and her mother Nancy Harvilla.

The family will be receiving visitors by invitation only on Wednesday, April 8, 2020. A private service will follow at Glen Eden Memorial Park. Father Ed Zaorski with St. James Catholic Church will officiate the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate memorial contributions to Michigan Humane Society , 30300 Telegraph Road, Ste. 220, Bingham Farms, MI 48025.
