James Mattteucci "Jimmie" died peacefully in his home surrounded by family on September 18, 2018 in Northville, MI at the age of 82.
Jim is survived by his wife, Janice Matteucci; six children, Jeff Matteucci (Deb), Jamie Matteucci (Diana), Joan Fox (Bill), Jill Jarvela (Jerry), Jackie Bates (Mike), Jason Matteucci (Gina); eleven grandchildren, Danielle Beyer (Matt), Felicia Matteucci, John Matteucci, Jacob Matteucci, Stevan Langell, Stephanie Langell, Joshua Jarvela, Tyler Jarvela, Cooper Bates, Rylee Bates, Ava Matteucci; 3 great grandchildren Annabelle Beyer, Madeline Beyer, Elizabeth Beyer; and three brothers, Dennis Matteucci (Janet), Rick Matteucci (Sally), and Jerry Matteucci (Carol). He was preceded in death by his parents Gerardo & Rose Matteucci of Kenosha, WI and his sister Felicia Clausi also of Kenosha.
Jim was born March 28, 1936 in Kenosha, Wisconsin; son of Gerardo and Rose (nee Oribiletti) Matteucci. He graduated from Mary D. Bradford High School in Kenosha, WI; Class of 1954. He proudly served his country as a Staff Sergeant in the United States Air Force where he participated in the Honor Guard. Jim was united in marriage to Janice Heather on November 30, 1957; they spent just shy of 61 years devoted to each other as husband and wife. They moved to Michigan in 1971 where he continued his career in the automotive industry (American Motors Corporation, Jeep, Chrysler Corp.). Over a 13-year period, the couple welcomed 6 children into their home and encouraged them to pursue their goals as well teaching them the greatest thing you will ever learn is just to love and be loved in return.
Jim was an avid golfer; he worked as a starter at Kensington Golf Course and golfed on a league with friends. He enjoyed spending time outdoors, walking and taking care of his garden. He cherished the time he spent with his family and especially adored his grandchildren. Jim was a well-loved friend that enjoyed telling stories and creating happy memories. He was a generous individual in many ways and taught all that were blessed by knowing him how to laugh at themselves.
The visitation will be held Saturday, September 22, 2018 from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. with a funeral service at 1:00 p.m. at Casterline Funeral Home, 122 W. Dunlap, Northville. Father Tom Belczak from St. Kenneth Catholic Church will officiate the service.
