James P. Bowman

February 28, 1972 — September 27, 2023

James P. Bowman, Jr., age 51, of Novi, formerly of Grant, passed away September 27, 2023. He was born on February 28, 1972 in Royal Oak, Michigan; son of James P. Bowman, Sr. and Patti Ann (Morgan) Bowman. Jim grew up in Farmington, Michigan and graduated from Farmington High School; class of 1990.  Following high school, he attended Specs Howard School of Broadcast Arts where he earned a certificate in Broadcast Media Arts.

Jim worked in logistics and as a warehouse manager for Art Van for over 20 years.  He later went to work for HB Fuller mixing chemicals and was most recently employed by O’Reilly Auto Parts.

Jim was a member of the Dearborn Masonic Lodge as well as the Shriners. He served on the board of directors for LionHeart Productions, a performing arts theater in Grant, Michigan.  During his work with the theater, Jim formed a close friendship with Pastor Jamie Evans from The Vine Assembly of God Church and reaffirmed his faith through countless hours of meaningful theological discussions.  His greatest passion in life was music.  He loved being a DJ and whenever possible, shared his love of music with family and friends at their weddings and parties.   He also loved to sing karaoke.  Every Wednesday night for the last 5 years he hosted two popular radio podcasts for Cave Radio called Effin Jimbo Show and S**t My Kids Listen To.  Jim had a fantastic outlook on life; he lived his life to the fullest and tried to appreciate the little things.  He was incredibly likeable, would do almost anything for a laugh, and gave the best hugs.  Jim loved his family, especially his children and was extremely proud of all their accomplishments.  He will be missed by all who loved him.

Jim is survived by his loving children; Jessica (Trevor Lacca) Bowman, Joseph Bowman, Amelia Bowman, and Ayden Longcore; his grandchildren, Penelope and Theo “Tito”; his wife, Mellissa Hanes; his parents, Patti Bowman and James (Linda Arrowwood) Bowman, Sr.; his mother-in-law, Mary Jo (Bill Simon) Hanes; his siblings, Brian (Patty) Bowman and Angela Preston; and many cousins including, Skip (Shannon) Dietz and Christine (Michael) Arnett.  He was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Michael Hanes.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, October 3, 2023 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with a Masonic Service at 7:00 p.m.  The Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, October 4, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at Casterline Funeral Home, 122 West Dunlap, Northville.  A luncheon will be held immediately following the services next door to the funeral home at the Northville American Legion Post 147.

Additionally, visitation will be held Sunday, October 8, 2023 from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. with a service beginning at 3:00 p.m. at The Vine, 112 E Commerce St., Grant.  Dinner and music will be provided at 4:00 at VFW Post 4249, 9075 Mason Drive in Newaygo.  Because Jim was so deeply loved across the Mitten, he will be cremated and immersed from the East side to the West side much as he's spent his life.
